Who decides what is a Grand Challenge?

You, the Community, decides.

How do we start?

There are several ways you can begin:

  1. Start a community discussion at the iPlant Collaborative Community Wiki (see link at left under User Menu - you'll have to sign in to add content).
  2. Start your own Grand Challenge discussion group, in any way you like.
  3. Come to the inaugural conference at CSHL April 7-9 and meet colleagues from all disciplines of plant and computing research. We encourage participants to meet informally April 9 after lunch to start forming "proto-grand challenge teams", or just to discuss grand challenges (see program). (If you have to spend the night in order to stay for these discussions, feel free to ask me to waive your overnight costs.)
  4.

    What next?

Propose a Grand Challenge Workshop or Symposium to develop your ideas and plan a Grand Challenge Team. We will make all the arrangements for you if your proposal is approved by the Board of Directors. Most workshops will be held at Biosphere 2, as quasi-retreats. See "Grand Challenge Process" tab for more info.
